Lava Show Tour Plan
Firstly, when idea behind the extraordinary Lava Show is to recreate a volcanic eruption, Meanwhile, this is done by superheating real lava up to a molten state of 1100°C (2000°F) and then pour it into a showroom full of people. Secondly, once the lava enters the showroom, the temperature instantly rises. Further, from the safety of their seats, guests can clearly see, smell, hear and feel the intense heat from the lava.
Thirdly, the lava originates from the 1918 Katla eruption. The source material is basaltic tephra, better known as the basaltic sand. Which covers the black sand beaches in the South Coast of Iceland. Fourth, as the molten lava flows into the showroom. Additionally over blocks of ice strategically placed in the lava slide, a rapid cooling process of the lava resulting in the formation of exquisite volcanic glass with striking obsidian-like appearance.
On display, there are home-made lava products. Many of which are only available in the lava-inspired gift shop. Which fun fact, is made from century-old lava from Katla volcano! Further reborn through the fiery spectacle of this Lava Show. How cool is that?

Lastly, while Lava Show is highly educational and family friendly, the show may not be best suited for the very youngest age group (0-4 years). A substantial part of the show involves spoken language (in English) by a live host that may render the little ones restless. Parents are responsible for their children’s behaviour and are kindly asked to voluntarily leave the showroom with their children if they struggle to stay seated and/or quiet during the show. This is for the sake of our hosts and our other guests. Thank you for understanding.
