Laki, towering 200 meters (660 feet) above the surrounding area. Also it sits in the center of a magnificent row picturesque of craters. You’ll explore and hike the trail atop Mt. Laki for sweeping panoramic views. Alternatively, if you prefer not to hike to the top, your guide will drive you to a nearby hill with equally impressive views.
Next, a short drive takes you to Tjarnargígur, a striking crater filled with water. The hike to the viewing platform is short and easy, offering great views of this unique site. For the more adventurous, a 1-hour hike into the crater awaits. The trail can be a bit uneven, starting with steep lava steps, but you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views. However, if you’d rather skip the hike. For example, then you can ride in the Super Jeep to the end of the trail and join the group for the next stop.
Meanwhile, from there, you’ll continue your journey, following the row of craters through a lava field on a narrow track, eventually completing the loop around Lakagígar.
Fagrifoss Waterfall and Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon are the final stops of the day. At Fagrifoss, you’ll enjoy about 20-30 minutes to explore and take in the beauty of the waterfall. Fun Fact: The Icelandic waterfall name translates to “beautiful falls.” Then, head to Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, one of the most magnificent and picturesque canyons in Iceland. You’ll walk along the canyon’s rim, gazing down into the turquoise river below and across to the lush cliffs.
Lastly, after a day full of incredible sights and adventures, you’ll return to Vik. Where you’ll be dropped off at your original pickup point following your visit to the Laki Craters!
