Glacier Experience and unique geothermal area

1 hour and 15 minutes

Easy

Experience the elements Ice&Fire in this tour as we land both at a glacier and at an active geothermal area

Starting from Reykjavik airport we head towards the mountains and fly over Hvalfjord or Whale Bay. In the bottom of that fjord sits Iceland´s tallest waterfall, Glymur. Don´t forget to wave the exhausted hikers below as they look up upon us as we hover above the powerful waterfall. We start heading to the second largest glacier in Europe, Langjökull. It is one of Iceland’s visible remains of the last Ice age.

In summertime you will see cracks and crevices in the glacier formed by its crawling outwards from under its own weight. On the way back, we will pass the 9000 year old volcano Skjaldbreiður that has the rare shape of a shield hardly seen elsewhere in the world. We will fly along the magnificent Continental rift very visible from air and over Thingvellir national park where you will hear about its important part to play in Icelandic history.

Our second landing in this tour is at the very active and powerful Hengil volcano geothermal area. Bubbling mud pools and hot water running around. Steam coming from numerous vents located around the area making this place just mythical !

This is not a structural tourist place. Not your typical spot where everybody goes so listen carefully to your pilots instructions and make sure to leave no mark behind. This is where you see nature as raw as it comes in Iceland and we really want to preserve it as we can.

Total duration of this tour is about 100-110 minutes or approx. 60-70 min guided helicopter flight and 2 landings about 20 min long each.

We can fit up to 6 passengers on our helicopter and in order for this tour to be flown, we need a minimum of 4 passengers.

If you are a solo traveler, let us know to see if we can find a convenient option for you to share rides with other groups.

Glacier landings are only made when deemed safe by our pilots and are determined by factors such as weather and glacier surface conditions. For your safety, we reserve the right to alter routes, flight plans and itineraries if needed.
